Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Japanese/English Bilingual Emerging Technology Project / AI Manager to drive the development of cutting-edge technologies, including Generative AI, and explore new technological domains that will be critical to NTT DOCOMO’s future business.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emerging technologies, including Generative AI technologies, along with exceptional leadership and cross-cultural communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage AI and emerging technology projects in alignment with DOCOMO’s business objectives, ensuring successful execution from inception to commercialization.
  • Proactively identify and secure new projects from DOCOMO HQ, positioning the team as a key driver of innovation and technology development.
  • Identify and evaluate new technology domains beyond AI (e.g., Generative AI) that will be critical for DOCOMO’s future growth, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders across DOCOMO and DOCOMO’s group companies to identify business needs, initiate new projects, and drive them through to commercialization, ensuring impactful AI-oriented and next-generation technology solutions that drive business expansion.
  • Facilitate project meetings with seamless communication between DOCOMO and local team members.
  • Actively contributing to technical development while also leading and coordinating projects across teams.

Qualifications:

  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in both Japanese and English (written and spoken) is required.
  • Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI,or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Project Management and strong knowledge of AI and Data Science. Experience in Telecom, AI, or software development project management.
  • Technical Skills: Broad knowledge of AI/ML algorithms, Cloud, Agile Development, and Wireless Communications. Familiarity with cloud AI platforms to develop GenAI and beyond. Require a balanced mix of technical hands-on work (50%) and project management responsibilities (50%).
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to manage teams and foster collaboration in a cross-functional and international environment.
  • Cultural Competence: Experience working in Japanese and U.S. business environments, with an understanding of cultural nuances.
  • Project Management: Ability to identify business needs, initiate new projects, manage them from conception to deployment, and drive commercialization, ensuring successful execution and business impact.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
